INVITING THE OUTSIDE IN
Pulling inspiration from Room + Wild’s curated collection of landscape hotels, Jaclyn Genovese helps you bring your indoor spaces to life.

In R+W Naturals, we will be connecting with extraordinary people making waves in sustainability, design, architecture, wellness and wildlife; travel and hospitality industry icons, acclaimed architects, designers, influential artists and media personalities.
In our first edition, we decided to look at the topic of design from a more grassroots approach and uncover the true meaning of a “living room”. When exploring the topic of what brings a space to life we turned to our curated list of partnered R+W properties for inspiration. These outstanding, hotels and lodgings break the rules of traditional design and seamlessly integrate their natural surroundings and unique geography.
With the current state of the COVID 19 pandemic, being grounded in the confines of your home is becoming a reality that brings with it new challenges, but also new opportunities. As the saying goes “it starts at home”.
The notion of inner growth through detaching ourselves from society and connecting with our natural environment (as described in our Elements Series) sheds light on how social distancing can be a necessary tool in self-care and healing. Perhaps we should consider this a gentle reminder to also nurture our collective home, planet earth.
Staying true to our #StayHome subject matter, we looked no further than our own backyard, here in Toronto, and caught up with Jaclyn Genovese, founder and CEO of Spaces by Jacflash. From her roots in fashion to her women’s health/wellness and entrepreneurial workshops, Jaclyn Genovese is not your average interior designer. We asked Jaclyn what R+W property most inspired her and how you can bring the wild into your room, breathing new life to any living or workspace.
One look at Jaclyn’s recent work and it’s no surprise she found a connection with one of our favourite properties THE SLOW SUITES in Bali, designed and owned by creative mastermind and fashion guru, George Garrow. The Slow is a boutique hotel and culture hub of art, architecture, fashion, music and gastronomy on the coast of Canguu, Bali. Below, Jaclyn walks us through some items that tie in the Balinese, boho-chic, tropical and natural look and feel found in the aesthetic at THE SLOW.
The great outdoors shape so much of our day-to-day decisions, so seeing as we are all stuck inside during the Covid-19 outbreak, we have decided to invite the outside in by designing a bedroom based off of a Room and Wild property we love.
“We took great inspiration from The Slow Suites in Bali with their dark wood features, concrete accents and immense foliage. From a sunset teak lounge chair, to a braided jute pouf, we brought the essence of Bali into this bedroom. “
