My husband and I have different ideas of what the perfect vacation looks like, so for our honeymoon we combined our love of adventure and relaxation and did both - bush to beach. We went on a life-changing safari exploring Tanzania's many great landscapes and topped it off with a few days on the white sands and turquoise waters of Zanzibar (cocktails in hand!). Truly the trip of a lifetime.
Most memorable place
Zanzibar. Zuri Zanzibar was the most spectacular hotel with the worlds most picturesque beaches. Sitting in the bar lounge playing cards and enjoying a glass of wine, sunset sangria and snacks on the beach, intimate dinners by candlelight on the sand, exploring the spice gardens on the grounds and live local musical performances are just some of the highlights of our time in Zanzibar.
Best new experience
Most humbling experience:
Meeting and being welcomed by the incredible people of Tanzania along the way and learning the true meaning of Hakuna Matata.
Most unexpected experience
Favourite landscape
The Ngorogoro Crater. It was beyond our wildest dreams. Thousands of animal species living in harmony - It was an unbelievable sight. Being in the crater felt like being in the centre of the earth. Driving in and out of the crater is just as spectacular, as the landscape turns lush and rainforest-like and the cool crisp air surrounds you.
Favourite nature experience
Picnic in the middle of the Serengeti. Outdoor bucket shower in Tarangire National Park. Watching thousands of Wildebeest preparing to cross for the Great Migration. Snorkeling in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean off the shores of Zanzibar.
Most unique accommodation
The Highlands Camp. We were so excited to stay at the Highlands and it exceeded our wildest dreams. Each room is a beautiful geometric dome that sits on the side of a mountain, providing gorgeous views of the forest and making you feel like you are truly one with nature. We will cherish the fond memories of cozying up by the fire with a fur throw and a glass of wine.
Favourite accommodation:
The Sanctuary Serengeti Migration Camp
After a day of exploring the beauty of the Serengeti and the wonder of the Great Migration, we made our way to the migration camp. Luxurious tents waited for us after an evening of cocktails by the outdoor fire pit and an incredible dinner with new friends. Asante Sana!
