BEST VISITING MONTHS

The dry season is April to December, where salt flats can be crossed. May to September the temperature is 0-5 degrees, and October to December the temperature goes up to 14 degrees.
The rainy season is late December to mid-April, where salt flats show a beautiful water reflection, yet can't be crossed more than 15 km in. The temperature is around 14 degrees.

Kachi Lodge is a unique collection of luxury mobile domes, designed by Amazing Escapes, and located directly on the Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia at an altitude of 3’600 metres.

The geometric domes offer a transparent panel for unparalleled views of the Salt Flats, the Cactus Island, Tunupa Volcano, as well the star-studded night sky. The interior design draws inspiration from the surrounding nature, as well as local colours and traditions. The Lodge is proud to feature and work with contemporary Bolivian artists, such as Gastón Ugalde.

Kachi operates on solar energy, and has a strict 0% plastic policy, with even the cover of the domes being recyclable.

WHY WANDER

You are here for Salar de Uyuni -  the largest salt flat in the world, covering an area of 12,000 square km, visible from space. Created by a prehistoric lake going dry, Salar de Uyuni is a desertlike landscape of salt, rock formations and islands. Discover this other-worldly natural wonder on foot or mountain bikes. Hike to the lower lip of Tunupa volcano crater or visit the Salinas and learn how the locals collect the salt. Take advantage of Kachi’s telescope at night, and observe the starry Altiplano sky.

Other Bolivian landmarks not to be missed are Árbol de Piedra ("stone tree") in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve; Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon), a salt lake in the Sur Lípez Province, where you will also come across flamingoes; Laguna Celeste, another famous Bolivian lake and last but not least the Salvador Dalí Desert (Valle de Dalí), where landscapes resemble the artist's signature paintings.
