Why stay
Welcome to a place that has been called the end of the world since the dawn of time. The Patagonia region has been cut off from the rest of the globe by sea, mountains and ice fields, creating a land that is magical and hypnotic. Explora Patagonia is located on the shores of Lake Pehoe, with breathtaking views of the Paine ridge and the granite towers. You will find yourself right in the centre of the Torres del Paine National Park, in the heart of Patagonia, a declared UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The 49 rooms of Explora Patagonia are designed to take full advantage of the surrounding landscape. Choose Exploradores Suite or Cordillera Paine Room with views of Macizo del Paine, or Salto Chico Room for an amazing view of the Salto Chico waterfall. Don't expect to find TVs or Wi-Fi in your room, since Explora's mantra is disconnection from everyday routine and deep relaxation after a day full of activity. The design confirms the hotel's philosophy, with wood playing a fundamental role, and the essence of nature being as close as ever. Visit the hotel's pool and open-air jacuzzis with views of Pehoe Lake and Paine Massif to relax at the end of the day.
Why wander
Just like the name suggest, being at Explora Patagonia is all about exploring, getting on your feet and seeing the world around you. Patagonia is the southernmost region of South America, with one of the smallest populations in the world. It is home to an extensive variety of plants and animals, and some of the most unique and untouched landscape. Each evening you choose the activities you want to do the following day. Explora believes that explorations are the most important aspect of the travel experience. Each hike will have a guide, where you can choose your level of difficulty and decide on a half or full day adventure. The recommended explorations are Mirador Cóndor and Mirador Ferrier (half day hikes), Sierra del Toro and Cuernos (full day hikes), and Donoso (full day on horseback ride). Explora breeds and trains its own horses, available for the travellers' expeditions.
Indulge in
Chilean wine. Packed lunches for full day hikes. Traditional South American BBQ.
Getting There
Take a flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas. From there the hotel will arrange a pickup to bring you to Torres del Paine, 4 hours away.
GET INVOLVED
Partnership with The Nature Conservancy. This global alliance responds to the conviction that cooperation between the private sector, the state, NGOs, and the science and research community is the way forward. Explora and The Nature Conservancy are implementing a collaborative work model within our conservation reserves, our communities, and the world of science.
Explora Conservation Reserve is Explora’s first conservation project in Patagonia, through which they have acquired a perpetual commitment to protect 6,000 hectares, a fraction of untouched, pristine Patagonia.
