Underwater explorers.
Water on all sides. Swinging in a hammock and watching dolphins beneath your feet.
September - October
Punta Caracol's concept is an Acqua-Lodge within a truly untouched environment. Surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, along the coral reef coast, sit the unique and rustic cabins, built on stilts over water and covered with a palm leaf roof. Natural materials such as leafs, bamboo, wild cane were used in construction and make you feel closer to nature than ever. Enjoy the sunset and dolphin watching from your private terrace. Choose the master suite for a spectacular panoramic view and personal hammocks.
Get your snorkelling gear and kayaks and explore the rich coral reef around the lodge. Ten minutes away is the Starfish Beach, a beautiful place that gets its name for being a home to lots of large Starfish. Visit Dolphin bay, and another great snorkelling spot called Cayo Coral. Take a day trip to one of the numerous virgin islands of the Bocas del Toro archipelago. Hike in the rainforest and make friends with the sloths and the scarlet red frogs - native only to Bocas. Stay on land and visit the chocolate farms or the bat caves.
Caribbean, local and international cuisine

Eco-tourists. Wildlife lovers. Underwater explorers.
Monkeys, fresh lobster and a cold glass of rum. Nature at your doorstep. Seeing coral from your porch during the day and bio-luminescent plankton at night.
December to August. Avoid October and November, because of high precipitation.
Urraca Private Island is a magical ecolodge on a small mangrove island, 30 minutes away from Bocas del Toro, Panama. As you arrive, you will be greeted by the island's owner Francine, as well as a gang of friendly monkeys - the main residents of the island, along with Quiso, the kinkajou.
There are 5 bungalows, connected by wooden paths with nothing but water below your feet. Each bungalow has a private patio and an outdoor shower. Relax on the dock or on one of the hammocks and watch the distant blue horizon and the uninhabited Cayos Zapatilla Islands.
Water lovers will enjoy snorkeling above the rich coral reef or kayaking around the island in local cayucos. Do a day trip and see what Bocas del Toro has to offer. End the day by watching the magical bio-luminescent waters.
Catch of the day.
Take a domestic flight from Panama City to Bocas del Toro International Airport. Urraca Private Island is a 30 minute boat ride from Bocas del Toro, and the transportation can be arranged with the hotel.
Everything on the island is powered by solar panels and all the water comes from a rainwater collection system. Francine also works with and provides jobs for the native Ngobe people.
